MIDDLEFIELD DOG PARK RULES
For purposes of these rules a “dog owner” shall include jointly and severally the dog’s owner, keeper, or any other person bringing the dog to the dog park.
1) Park is open from dawn to dusk.
2) Use at your own risk. Dog owners utilizing the dog park understand and agree that they are using it “AT THEIR OWN RISK” of injury to self and dog(s). The Town is not responsible and will have no liability for the acts or omissions of dog owners and their dogs that use the dog park. Dog owners are responsible for any injuries to humans or other dogs caused by their dogs. Persons responsible for any such injuries or property damage shall hold MI-DOG and the Town of Middlefield harmless for same. Dog Owners are responsible for any damages to the dog park or individual personal property caused by their dogs. An owner must fill in immediately any holes dug by his or her dog.
3) Dog owners must immediately clean up after their dogs and remove the waste off-site. * Two doggie waste bag dispensers will be provided, but dog owners are encouraged to bring their own appropriate waste removal bags. Two garbage cans will be installed to prevent trash ending up in the woods, but the general policy will be “carry-in, carry-out”.
4) Dogs must display a valid license and have proof of up-to-date rabies vaccinations. In addition, Parvo/distemper and Bordatella vaccinations are highly recommended. Dogs may not be brought into the dog park if they are less than four months old, are females in heat, are sick or unhealthy, have a history of aggressiveness, or have been adjudicated as dangerous by a court of law or the Middlefield Animal Control Officer. If the dog acts aggressively, the dog owner must immediately leave the dog park with the aggressive dog.
5) Dogs must be removed from the dog park at the first sign of aggression towards a human or other dog.
Dogs must be leashed when entering or exiting the dog park. Dog owners must carry the leash and have their dog within view and under voice control. No more than (3) dogs per person. No more than 100 dogs will be allowed in the dog park at any given time. No animals other than dogs may be brought into the dog park. For the safety of all dogs, no choke, prong, pinch, or spike collars are allowed to be worn by dogs when inside the dog park.
6) Absolutely no food, bones, treats, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, strollers, bicycles, skateboards, roller blades or children’s toys are allowed inside the dog park. No smoking is allowed inside the dog park.
7) Children under 14 years of age are not permitted in the dog park unless accompanied by an adult willing to assume responsibility for their actions. Children must be closely supervised.
Infractions of any of these rules can result in temporary or permanent loss of dog park privileges, enforcement by the Middlefield Animal Control Officer or possible police action. All Town Ordinances and State Statutes apply. The Commission reserves the right to require dog owners to register with the town as a requirement for using the dog park, and to include as part of the registration an agreement that the dog owner indemnify and hold the Town harmless for claims or injuries arising from the dog owner and dog’s use of the dog park.
